Peter's asked me to stay until Lauren is born if it's at all possible. The procedure's scheduled on the 15th of February, so it looks like I'll be here for Valentine's Day. I've never HAD a Valentine's Day!! What happens!? Do I have to wear pink? I'm so excited! And I get to meet little Lauren as well.

I spent some time with Ellie last night which was really good. And I saw Julian yesterday too, and that was really good. And I cuddled Flynn's new cat!! And Maragirl of course.

I'm really glad I'm here. I think I needed a visit like this. To get the last one to fade away. And it has. It really has.

Friars are really charitable and they live off of donations and commit their entire lives to charity. So...I sort of looked up to this friar who sometimes came to our abbey. And I followed him around and Thomas likes to tease me.

That sounds like such a better life all round than being a priest or a monk. I mean, I know priests and monks get taken care of, but the freedom that the friar's life seems to entail sounds like it would be worth giving up the security. It sounds like the sort of thing Alexei would have been really into, if he were Christian. The wandering benefactor kind of deal.

You'll have such a wonderful time on Valentine's Day. It's such a beautiful thing, when you take the time and make the effort to make it so. Some people complain that it's all commercial and what-have-you, but I think that's only true if you make it so. It's never been like that with me, Deirdre and Kait. It's always been such a gorgeous day for us. It will be for you, too *smiles*
